'Nowe Tatry' Hotel Building

Architecture office: ION Architekci. Kraków. Poland

Completion: on hold

Project description: The plot slopes steeply to the west which is used to hide a part of a structure under the ground. The bottom two stories include leisure facilities like restaurants, swimming pools, saunas, SPA, bars and a nightclub. The upper stories include 167 apartments, where the top storey are only duplexes. An additional and quite unusual feature are indoor slides for children. The slides connect every storey from top to the bottom for the enjoyment of the little ones thanks to a family-oriented theme. The complexity of the project was a huge challenge for the whole designing team including structural engineers, M&E consultants, interior designers and architects. Its final look was inspired by traditional polish housing in the Tatry Mountains.

My duties: The hotel's design had been changed multiple times during a year of my involvement and many more apart from that. Due to continuous brief changing, planning officers' requirements and expedited by a developer designing process within that short period of time I was working on various stages - going back and forth between Concept and Technical Design.
